Mariah Carey's brother suing Mariah Carey
When you are as well known as Mariah Carey then what you say matters and can be pretty damaging. In the case of her brother it would appear his reputation was damaged when Mariah Carey chose to write about his violent tendencies in her 2020 memoir ‘The Meaning of Mariah Carey.’ Now her brother Morgan Carey is going to sue her over this. TMZ reports, “Mariah damaged his reputation when she wrote about an allegedly violent struggle he had with their father, and an alleged attack against their mother, in her 2020 book” The passage of her book reads; "It took twelve cops to pull my brother and father apart. The big bodies of men, all entangled like a swirling hurricane, crashed loudly into the living room. I was a little girl with very few memories of a big brother who protected me. More often, I felt I had to protect myself from him, and sometimes I would find myself protecting my mother from him too." Morgan claims that the statement is false and that there was no way 12 cops would respond to a domestic violence report. Valid point. He also goes on to state that actual fights between his father didn’t happen while Mariah was young. Mariah’s book also claims; "Suddenly there was a loud, sharp noise, like an actual gunshot. My brother had pushed my mother with such force that her body slammed into the wall, making a loud cracking sound." Morgan is accusing her of defamation and inflicting emotional distress. He is seeking unspecified damages claiming that book falsely suggests that he was violet. The lawsuit comes one month after Mariah’s older sister Alison sued her for $1.25m for alleged emotional distress after the book was released. Mariah Carey’s book, The Meaning of Maria Carey was released on 29 September 2020 and describes a dysfunctional poverty-stricken childhood, and her early career struggles. The memoir became a number one in New York Times Best Seller after its first week of release. What happens next in this battle waits to be seen but it appears family members are not happy with the book despite it being a best seller. Tell us what you think?
