TikTok users mashup Megan Thee Stallion's verse in Cardi B's WAP music video

Cardi B’s “WAP” music video which features Megan Thee Stallion has made the headlines everywhere. Some call it a cultural phenomenon while others are shocked at its content with no words to describe what the video actually is.

After seeing it multiple times being referenced everywhere I finally watched it and was probably in the shocked category but if nothing else it certainly is memorable. Now its popularity is exploding on TikTok with users remixing rapper Megan Thee Stallion’s first verse with songs like “The Phantom of the Opera” or “Let It Go”.

The verse “Gobble me, swallow me, drip down inside of me / Quick jump out 'fore you let it get inside of me" is being mashed up with various different instruments.

Insider reports that Prince Charles Alexander, a professor in Berklee College of Music's Music, Production and Engineering department says the verse is the most notable because of the precision of the flow which makes it easier to re-tempo the song;

"Megan Thee Stallion's rhythmic flow is precise and 'steady as a metronome' which helps it synchronize with any consistent beat."

The minimalist beats and that it sounds like a tongue twister could be another reason why TikTok users have been keen to master it according to Vulture music critic Craig Jenkins;

"Because I've been around hip-hop since its inception and have heard fast rappers like Bone Thugs 'n Harmony, Twista, Mystikal, Busta Rhymes, and countless others deliver rapid-fire lyrics, this verse stands out because its onomatopoeia (a word that looks it sounds) and imagery fit an empowerment narrative," he told insider.

Some of the most popular mashups are below;

1. Remix with "The Phantom of the Opera"

2. Remix with Frozen
