Selena Gomez Goes Makeup-Free With An Underlying Message

Seeing the real version of people is always better than the overly done up, edited pics that typically circulate the internet. There is also something more relatable about real people. So seeing the real version of Selena definitely had us liking her more.

In an Instagram story posted on 16 Feb, the gorgeous super star showed fans Selena in real life. She posted a picture of herself wearing glasses and no makeup as well as what looked to be a bathrobe and messy ponytail lounging on the couch with a blanket draped across her lap holding a coffee mug. She is also completely uninterested in the camera. The picture is captioned with “k but real life lol” Fans were happy with the real life version of Selena.

For years Selena has talked about dangers of social media and how it can give users a false view of someone else’s life so it’s important for her to show both the glam and the not so glam side.

In 2019 she said;

“I think our world is going through a lot, obviously, but for my generation, specifically, social media has been terrible.”

In another 2019 interview, she explained,

“I noticed, with me, I got kind of depressed looking at all these people who look beautiful and amazing, and it would just get me down a lot. Taking breaks is really important. Just know that most of it isn’t real. And I hate to say that, I don’t mean to be rude, but it’s very unrealistic in a lot of ways.”

Selena has dealt with her own fair share of online criticism and trolls and has even taken some social media breaks herself when needed.

Despite all the negatives, she also recognizes the ways that social media has been beneficial for her.

“I’m very grateful I have the platform in any way, I can still share things I’m passionate about,” she admitted. “I don’t do a lot of pointless pictures. I like to be intentional with it.”

Well nice to see celebs posting real pictures of themselves, after seeing what many claim to be heavily edited Kendall Jenner pictures which sent many into body image insecurities people may be reassured to find celebrities are human too.
