People think Zendaya won't be a good voice actor in Space Jam: A New Legacy

Zendaya has got herself a new role as Lola Bunny in Space Jam: A New Legacy and fans have mixed reactions.

The news was announced on Saturday after the film debuted it’s first trailer. For those that are not aware, Lola Bunny is Bugs Bunny’s girlfriend and has been the subject of controversy already.

Director Malcom D. Lee said back in March that the film had been re-designed as a result of reconsideration of the original space Jam film.

Lola was not politically correct,” Lee said of 1996’s Lola.

“This is a kids’ movie, why is she in a crop top? It just felt unnecessary, but at the same time there’s a long history of that in cartoons.”

Lee went on to explain that he wanted the newer version of Lola to “reflect the authenticity of strong, capable female characters.”

Many fans took to twitter expressing that she was of course a natural fit. One wrote;

“cause Zendaya was meant for this”
“Zendaya was born for this role”

However, some felt that she wasn’t the best choice and perhaps Kath Soucie who originally voiced Lola bunny may have done a better job.

One user even went as far as saying that they should pitch to get Kath Soucie back.

Zendaya most recently starred in the Netflix film Malcolm & Marie with John David Washington. She’ll be seen in another Warner Bros. movie, Dune, and the third Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Space Jam: A New Legacy is in theaters and on HBO Max on July 16 according to reports.
