Nicholas Cage got married again last month but chose to keep it quiet until now. Speaking to People, he released a statement saying;
“It’s true, and we are very happy.”
The 57 year old married 26 year old girlfriend Riko Shibata in a small and intimate ceremony at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas.
They married on 16th February which is actually a very special day for Nicholas cage and a rep explained why.
“The date was chosen to honor the birthday of the groom’s late father,” the rep said, adding that Cage wore a Tom Ford tuxedo.
“The bride wore a handmade Japanese Bridal Kimono from Kyoto that required three layers.”
“After the wedding, the happy couple was joined for a small celebration attended by Nicolas‘ ex-wife, Alice (who he remains very good friends with) and their son Kal,” the rep added.
Nicholas has been married 5 times in total, his longest marriage was with Alice Kim who he married in 2004 and divorced in 2016. Other marriages have included Patricia Arquette, Lisa Marie Presley and makeup artist Erika Koike which lasted just four days,
Nicholas Cage and Riko met over a year ago, according to HollyWood Like. Riko spent much of her time during the pandemic in japan which Nicholas confirmed in a podcast interview with his brother.
“She left New York and went back to Kyoto, Japan, and I went back to Nevada and I haven’t seen her for 6 months,” Nicholas revealed during the Aug. 2020 podcast.
The two were first spotted together on a date in New Orleans in Feb 2020 according to daily Mail then seen holdings hands in NYC in March 2020 just before the pandemic.
Speaking on his brother’s radio show in August 2020, he said;
We’re really happy together and we’re really excited to spend that time together so I finally just said, 'Look, I wanna marry you’ and we got engaged on FaceTime.”
Not only that but the ring was also unique and sent via Fedex. Nicolas revealed,
“I got her a black diamond engagement ring. Her favorite color is black so she wanted the black gold, and the black diamond. I customized and personalized it and I actually sent it to her [through] FedEx.”
Riko is 31 years younger than her husband and actually four years younger than his 30 year old son.
Everything about this marriage is unique to say the least but will be interesting to see how long it lasts.
