Gucci heir offended by attractiveness of actors in "House of Gucci" starring Al Pacino and Lady Gaga

“The House of Gucci” starring Lady Gaga is a show that everyone wants to watch, except maybe the great-grandchildren of Guccio Gucci who founded the luxury fashion house. The great grandchildren are appealing to filmmaker Ridley Scott to respect their family’s legacy.

The film is based on a book about the 1995 murder-for-hire of one of Gucci’s grandchildren, Maurizio and the subsequent trial and conviction of his ex wife Patrizia Reggiani played by Lady Gaga who served 16 years in prison for contracting the murder.

One of Maurizio’s cousins Patrizia Gucci’s is worried that the film will pry into the private lives of the Gucci heirs.

“We are truly disappointed. I speak on behalf of the family,” Gucci told The Associated Press on Wednesday. “They are stealing the identity of a family to make a profit, to increase the income of the Hollywood system....Our family has an identity, privacy. We can talk about everything. but there is a borderline that cannot be crossed.”

Patrizia Gucci has in fact reached out to filmmaker Ridley Scott’s wife Giannina Facio to better understand the film but hasn’t had a reply.

It is reported that Facio met with Gucci’s family members in early 2000s to talk about another project which was supposed to focus on roles of Patrizia Gucci’s father Paolo and grandfather Aldo and their role in expanding the luxury brand into a global business. That is clearly a very different type of film to one about murder and scandal which makes Patrizia even more concerned, particularly around why they film production company has not responded to her.

Patrizia went on to add that her family will decide what action they will take after seeing the film but are concerned that some of it may be more fiction than fact, particularly since the top actors that have been cast are playing family members whose stories interact little with Maurizio Gucci’s murder. Not to mention lack of contact from Scott’s production company and what she claims to be inaccuracies in the book on which the film is based.

Patrizia is also offended by the attractiveness of the cast, claiming Al Pacino does not reflect her grandfather Aldo Gucci’s appearance;

“My grandfather was a very handsome man, like all the Guccis, and very tall, blue eyes and very elegant. He is being played by Al Pacino, who is not very tall already, and this photo shows him as fat, short, with sideburns, really ugly. Shameful, because he doesn’t resemble him at all,” Patrizia Gucci said.

As for Jared Leto playing Paolo Gucci who came up with the double G logo his daughter feels he is not portrayed correctly either. Paolo Gucci is portrayed as a man with unkempt hair and lilac corduroy suit.

“Horrible, horrible. I still feel offended,” she said.

Hmm, makes us wonder if she is more offended by actors not being attractive enough or the story line.
