Britney Spears is finally speaking out about the controversy surrounding her Instagram post, but fans remain skeptical.
According to TMZ, the singer provided a statement in response to claims made by her former makeup artist, Billy Brasfield, who claims Spears personally told him that she doesn’t write her Instagram captions.
"No, I'm not talking to him at all," she reportedly told the outlet. "I write my posts. I'm not sure who he is talking to, but I am not talking to Billy B."
Fans believe that it was actually Spears’ father, Jamie Spears or someone from her team who wrote the statement and gave it to TMZ.
"You lost me at 'Britney told TMZ she writes her posts herself' like wtf who is going to believe that? Ma'am this is a Wendy's," one Twitter user wrote.
Another replied;
"When has Britney in the last 13 years ever made a direct statement to the press... please."
"As if," another user tweeted.
"You've been catfished @tmz as if Britney would speak to you."
Brasfield who worked for Britney between 2012 and 2013 told Page Six that “the content is her, but..the words are NOT how she feels”
The speculation is off the back of her Documentary “The New York Times Presents: Framing Britney Spears” after which the singer is thought to have written a lengthy caption which began with;
"My life has always been very speculated," she began in the caption. "Watched ... and judged really my whole life !!!"
"For my sanity I need to dance to @iamstevent every night of my life 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼 to feel wild and human and alive !!! I have been exposed my whole life performing in front of people 😳😳😳 !!
"It takes a lot of strength to TRUST the universe with your real vulnerability cause I've always been so judged... insulted... and embarrassed by the media... and I still am till this day 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 !!!! As the world keeps on turning and life goes on we still remain so fragile and sensitive as people !!!"
She also reportedly added that while she did not watch the whole documentary what she did see made her feel embarrassed.
"I cried for two weeks," she continued. "And well .... I still cry sometimes !!!!"
The speculation remains, was it her talking to TMZ or her father, tell us what you think?
