Bridgerton fans will be disappointed and somewhat surprised to learn that their favourite actor Rege-Jean Page is not returning to the famous Netflix series. We have to admit we are just as sad as others, including Kim Kardashian it would appear.
A statement was released on Twitter on April 2nd written as the show’s gossiping narrator Lady Whistledown which read;
“We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family.
“Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer – more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear.”
Kim Kardashian who has been enjoying some Bridgerton herself posted;
“Wait!! WHAT??"
After her comment on Bridgerton’s official Instagram account, she headed to her own Instagram story sharing the announcement with more fans.
Rege-Jean Page left his own comment writing;
However the fans remained unimpressed that he wasn’t returning, not even in a small capacity.
One fan wrote;
“Well, not sure what the point of watching this now.”
“We all know that Simon was the reason why most of us were watching this.”
Another added:
“Unpopular opinion, but this show kinda sucks. it definitely sucks without Regé-Jean Page.”
“I only watched because if his on-screen magnetism, charm and charisma. The other scenes were interesting but nothing compared to the scenes with him. Can’t see how it would have the same level of interest without him.”
One fan hoped it was a joke writing;
According to Rege-Jean Page, the plan was always to be in one season with the next season to focus on Dapnhe’s brother, Anthony, in the Viscount who loved me which centres around him and his love interest Kate Sharma played by Simone Ashley.
Anthony who was a womaniser in season 1, sets out to find a wife and settle down and while looking for someone comes across Edwina Sheffield who ticks all the boxes. However her sister Kate does not like him and does what she can to stop the two getting together and in the process ends up falling in love with him.
While the storyline may just be as exciting as the first, it waits to be seen if Rege-Jean Page’s charisma and charm can be replicated in the second season.
