It would seem that Katy Perry just has that kind of face. Not so long ago, she confused fans when people thought she looked like Adele during her performance at the Tmall Virtual Double 11 Gala on November 11th. Now she has openly admitted to pretending to be Zooey Deschanel to get into clubs when she first moved to LA as the two looked alike.
In an Instagram livestream on Monday when Deschanel joined her, Perry jokingly made the comment that;
“It’s like looking in the mirror."
She went on to add;
“For so long, we've had this funny friendship. Obviously, people think we look alike, right?"
Deschanel who is well know for her role in New Girl went on to respond;
"I've had full conversations with people where they thought I was you."
Hmm…Wow, ok, so let’s get this right. If Perry, Adele and Deschanel got into a room and got similar styles it’s quite possible everyone could be confused?
Perry went on to admit that she has used Deschanel’s fame to her own advantage adding;
"When I came to LA, I was pretty much a nobody, and you were just getting so huge at that time, it was like Zooey Deschanel ran the world."
"In that moment, I was so complimented to look like you."
"I went to the club a lot," the "Roar" singer said.
"And I wanted to get into the club, but I had no money, I had no clout, I had nothing, and sometimes I would pose as you to get into the club."
Funnily enough Deschanel was not surprised and had fully suspected something.
"Well, I know this." Deschanel said.
"People were like 'I saw you!' But I'm such a goody-two-shoes, and people kept going like, 'I saw you out, I made eye contact with you!'" Deschanel said.
"Then everybody kept telling me about you, 'This girl Katy, she looks just like you,' and I'm like, 'Who is this Katy?'"
The livestream coincided with Perry’s music video which she released on Monday called “Not the End of the World”. The video plays on their resemblance and features aliens who mistook Deschanel for Perry and abducted her.
The video was filmed a few months ago after the birth of her daughter but as Perry was on a sort of maternity leave she reached out to Deschanel to help and only appeared at the end. Good job the two can fill in for each other if needed.
If ever Adele needs a stand-in then she could try either Perry or Deschanel. Tell us what you think, do the ladies look like each other enough to be able to pull it off?
