Saturday Night Live is set to have a new host on May 8th and it would appear not all cast members are happy. Billionnaire and somewhat controversial man Elon Musk will be making an appearance but no cast member is being forced to feature in the show.
“Speaking historically, if a cast member has been that unhappy, they don’t have to do it,” a source told Page Six.. “[‘SNL’ boss Lorne Michaels] won’t ever make them do anything they don’t want to do.”
Here is a rundown of all the reactions from cast members
Bowen Yang
After Musk tweeted,
“Let’s find out just how live Saturday Night Live really is.”
Cast member Bowen Yang wrote:
“What the f–k does this even mean?”
Andrew Dismukes
Writer Andrew Dismukes also seemed less than enthused posting on Instagram:
“Only CEO I want to do a sketch with is Cher-E Oteri,” over a photo of “SNL” alum Cheri Oteri.
Aidy Bryant
Even Aidy Bryant who has been a longtime cast member and no doubt met many people on the show re-posted a tweet by Bernie Sanders which may be a dig at Elon Musk, pretty much calling it:
a “moral obscenity” that “the 50 wealthiest people in America today own more wealth than the bottom half of our people.”
Michael Che
However Michael Che did see some benefits to Elon Musk attending, joking to Jimmy Fallon that he hopes the billionaire will uphold the “SNL” tradition of hosts giving,
“a couple million dollars” to each cast member.
Miley Cyrus fans
Even Miley Cyrus was blasted for performing on the same episode as him when fans said he was “destroying the planet” and doesn’t like women referring to crypto being destruction of planet.
Summary
Despite such varying opinions a source did tell page six that no one has pulled out of the show,
“Whether you like him or not, Elon is a very interesting character. … He’s very much a showman.”
Though Musk can be controversial sometimes you need someone with another perspective to make a change and yes he is rich but last time we checked being rich wasn’t a crime and surely can’t be something that can be held against him. If only Elon Musk was interested in speaking to us, it would be a dream.
