A look back at Princess Diana's Revenge dress

When the Royal family has to make a statement, they prefer keeping it symbolic. Even if you are not fully onboard with the royalty, you would follow the code of conduct.

Princess Diana who was frequently making headlines for her clothes and fashion has used it in the past to send a signal to Prince Charles. It was an eventful day and many around the world were looking towards England and its Royal family. Prince Charles’ tell-all documentary premiered on national television.

According to Readers Digest the documentary was made in an effort to bring Prince Charles back into a more sympathetic light after his separation from Diana, who was loved by all as “the people’s princess.”

The film’s intent backfired when the interviewer asked Charles on screen if he’d been “faithful and honorable” to Diana during their marriage.

“Yes,” Prince Charles answered. “Until it became irretrievably broken down, us both having tried.”

As Prince Charles’ answer to being faithful was both yes and no, It was considered as Prince Charles’ confession to his adultery with Camilla.

"It happens in a relationship, partners know what the other one is up to, but it hurts even more when people give you that poor girl look, Obviously Princess Diana was not one of those.
While many would hibernate and think “I can’t face it” Diana went out in that dress looking drop-dead gorgeous. She made a big statement right there.”

Now no one would ever know what was really going on in Diana’s mind and if she chose the historical off-the-shoulder, form-fitting black silk dress with the intention to take revenge or if she was making a bigger statement of women equality by breaking the protocol as was confessed by Charles.

But according to the designer of the iconic dress Christina Stambolian the dress had actually been made for Diana three years prior to its first appearance in the spotlight. At the time, the princess had been too nervous to wear it because she claimed it was “too daring.”

In fact, Diana had initially planned on wearing a Valentino dress until her outfit of choice was released to the press ahead of the event, according to reports from the Telegraph.

Diana and Charles had been apart for 3 years already and as the reason for their rough relation was out in public, she just wanted to look young, happy and charming. According to Diana’s stylist, Diana wanted to look like she was worth a million dollars that night, surely she did.
